BBRnR x NOLA

This past weekend was a hoot, and it all started when I almost got Jake and myself killed during our drive to NOLA.

I was taking a snooze during the car ride (because I’m a bum that couldn’t stay awake for more than 30 minutes), dreamin’ bout driving a speed boat, or something, that was on its way to crash and somehow thought it was real.

I don’t know, but yeah, anyways.

All I remember was waking up two seconds before ‘the crash’ and gripping the steering wheel, forcing the car to make a hard right, as Jake fought to keep it straight. And I have no idea how, or why, I woke up thinking the crash was real, but from that moment I knew it was going to be a damn good weekend.

ISLE 5 X ST. BEAUTY

upload.jpg

Meet St. Beauty, 'the soulful love-child of Alex Belle and Isis V.' based out of Atlanta, GA.

upload.jpg

I stumbled upon this dynamic duo during their show this past weekend at Aisle 5 and left a fan. Their performance was memorable, fun to capture, and something I'd definitely pay to see again live. And their music, soulful and melodic, will fit nicely in my playlist next to The Internet.

Check these two out @ www.stbeautyband.com.

AVONDALE X BOBBY ROCKNROLL & LADY LEGS

This past weekend was one of the best weekends I've had in a long time. And I owe a huge part of that to these two wonderful bands, Bobby RocknRoll, Lady Legs, and the energy they provided at Avondale.

Sigh -

New York was an opportunity to network and gather more material for my portfolio. Essentially the same agenda/goal for California and Arizona last year. And due to a few failed expectations, I feel as though I've returned home empty handed. But then again, maybe not.. and I say that because a part of me believes the culture shock from New York - 'the city that never sleeps' - was more than enough.

The shock bestowed upon me many lessons, one of them reinforcing the thought, 'I ain't shit', a mere ant, wandering a tiny spec of the earth. And it didn't really hit me until I was within the center of Time Square. At that moment I was staring into my phone's selfie camera, spinning, as I thought to myself - 'Here I am, in a city where no one knows my name. Completely invisible'. A humbling experience within itself. An experience that relieved me of the anxieties from living within a small college town, so small the chances of seeing the same person three times within one day is likely.

With that being said, New York doesn't  'care'. It's a huge city that's overwhelmingly crowded and ironically, I found comfort within that. The feeling of being a statistic forced me to think on myself, who I was as a person and what I wanted out of life. It fueled the fire known as my passion, inspiring me to work harder, be steadfast towards achieving my goals, and develop my sense of worth - my place within this world.

P.S.

Thank you, Taylor of DNA Models for giving me the opportunity of shooting with you guys, although our schedules were unable to match. Maybe next time.
